Workgroups
Our Workforce Ready workgroups drive progress in key areas of the initiative. Explore detailed descriptions of each group’s purpose, members, and focus areas. Whether it's Evaluation, Curriculum Enhancements, Professional Development, or Community Outreach, these teams are dedicated to supporting educators and young children with disabilities.
The Community Outreach team is responsible for coordinating and convening an Advisory Board by determining final invitees, sending letters of interest, and holding the first meeting. Additionally, they will focus on providing targeted technical assistance by identifying and connecting with local community partners, such as ITC, 619, and early childhood (EC) providers, who support children with disabilities. The team will also handle dissemination efforts, sharing information and products related to disability enhancements in early childhood education with relevant stakeholders.
The Curriculum Enhancement team will focus on analyzing and enhancing syllabi and curricula by collecting and reviewing existing syllabi and designating syllabus leads to oversee the process. Additionally, they will be responsible for creating and improving course activities to ensure that the curriculum is robust, engaging, and aligned with program goals. This work aims to enhance the educational experience and ensure that course content meets the needs of students and faculty. This workgroup will involve participation from most team members.
The Evaluation team will conduct a comprehensive assessment to identify strengths and needs, including quantitative surveys, self-assessments, clinical evaluations of student competencies, and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders. They will develop standardized measures for documenting disability-related information in course syllabi, and evaluate student knowledge and skills related to disability. This work will provide essential data to guide ongoing program development and ensure the program effectively supports all stakeholders.
The Professional Development and CoP team is tasked with developing and enhancing professional development (PD) and community of practice (CoP) initiatives. For Global PD and Webinars, they will capture data for all Virginia Community College System (VCCS) courses and curate existing webinars from partners, federal sources, and state or organizational resources, identifying gaps in available content. The team will also engage in informal conversations and evaluations to identify topical PD needs and develop a list of potential subjects.
The Workforce Ready Institute team will handle planning, executing, and evaluating the Workforce Ready Institute event. The CoP team will identify faculty leads, determine the meeting scope, plan and host meetings, and maintain detailed notes for ongoing collaboration.
